How to visit Moraira’s Beaches

A great way to visit the various beaches in Moraira is by following the Mirador Route (Ruta de los Miradores), as it passes by several of the most beautiful coves and offers views of the coastline.

To enjoy all the beaches, it’s best to base yourself in this town on the Costa Blanca. A hotel with an excellent location and good value for money is the Buigues, in one of the best areas to stay in Moraira, as you can access almost all the coves and beaches on foot, without needing a vehicle, thanks to the aforementioned Mirador Route.

It’s also possible to visit these beaches from other destinations on the coast, as a day trip. In that case, we recommend focusing on the beaches you’re most interested in and visiting at most two per day. 1. Portet Beach

Undoubtedly, Portet Beach with its fine sand, shallow waters, and crystal-clear sea is one of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa Blanca. This small bay, protected by the Cap d’Or peninsula, has been awarded the Blue Flag and offers all the services, such as restrooms and lifeguards.

The beach has a small promenade, along Puerto Santa Maria Street, with bars, restaurants, and benches where you can sit and gaze out at the sea.

At one end, you’ll find the gourmet restaurant Le Dauphin, which not only boasts incredible views but also offers a tasting menu. If you’re looking for something simpler, El Raco Bar beach bar, while offering basic options like tapas, sandwiches, or some mixed dishes, stands out for its tables with frontline beach views, perfect for enjoying a drink at sunset.

If you enjoy walking, there are two routes that start at this beach: the Torre del Vigia and the Mirador Route.

2. Portitxolet Cove

Near the nautical club, you can access this small rocky cove, which is less than 100 meters long. Due to its good visibility, it is often used for diving.

Access to this cove is via stairs from the Portitxolet viewpoint.

3. Llebeig Cove, Moraira’s most inaccessible cove

Located between Teulada-Moraira and Benitatxell, this virgin stone cove boasts a spectacular landscape surrounded by cliffs.

You can only access it by sea or via the Cliffs Route trail (Ruta de los Acantilados), which covers about 2 kilometers from Moraig Cove to Llebeig Cove. There is an excursion that departs from Valencia and follows this route. We were also told that you can reach it via the Barranco de la Viuda route, which descends to Llebeig Cove.

An alternative way to explore this cove is by taking a 4-hour kayak excursion that departs from Portet Beach and skirts the Cap d’Or peninsula until reaching Llebeig Cove and Moraig Cove, where snorkeling is also practiced ➥ BOOK IT HERE!

4. Ampolla Beach, in the center of Moraira

Moraira’s central beach is approximately 300 meters long and receives the most tourist influx during the summer as it is located just steps from the old town of Moraira.

At one end of the beach, we have the esplanade of the castle, and at the other, the Les Tosqueres viewpoint, with the sculpture of the man looking out to sea.

This fine sandy beach has all the services, a beach bar, restrooms, and showers. It is very shallow, making it ideal if you are traveling with children.

When you are on this beach, you will see some lagoons at the back. This is the Marjal del Senillar, a coastal wetland that is one of the natural outlets of the Barranc de Les Sorts basin.

If you are traveling by car, in the area behind the beach, you can park in the shade under some pine trees.

5. L’Andragó Cove, ideal for snorkeling

This rocky cove, 150 meters long and almost 2 kilometers from the center of Moraira, is one of the most popular choices for snorkeling and diving due to its abundant marine life. You can even see starfish. It’s always worth remembering to look, but not touch!

Is it a good idea to bring water shoes or aquatic footwear, and a detail about this cove is that it has a metal staircase that makes it easy to exit the sea. Additionally, from this cove, you have beautiful views of Moraira in the distance.

There are several restaurants in the vicinity, but the closest one to the cove is the Algas beach bar right on the waterfront, ideal for enjoying a drink with sea views.

6. Les Platgetes

Located almost a kilometer from the center, Les Platgetes consists of two small coves, one sandy and the other rocky, separated by rocks. The sandy part is shallow and is a good option for families with children.

At the top, there is a beautiful park with picnic areas and restrooms. At one end, you’ll find the El Chamizo restaurant, offering a varied menu and excellent views.

7. Cap Blanc Cove or Punta Estrella

It’s a small cove, 200 meters long, surrounded by cliffs. If the sea is calm, it’s ideal for snorkeling, and there is a metal staircase to enter the sea.

From this cove, there are beautiful views, but there are signs warning about the risk of rockfalls, so it’s advisable not to stay near the cliffs.

It’s a bit hidden, as the Mirador Route doesn’t follow the coast in this area, so to reach Cap Blanc, you’ll have to navigate through the urbanization. And if you’re traveling by car, keep in mind that parking spaces are limited.
